Ryser's contract with LHC would still have been valid for one more season, but the 27-year-old informed the club that he will end his career and asked them to dissolve his contract. He joined Lausanne in January 2016. Since then, he suited up in 107 games for them, in which he recorded 26 goals and 30 assists.

Originally, he is from the youth organisation of the ZSC/GCK Lions. In the 2009-10 season, he made his debut for the ZSC Lions in Switzerland's highest league. Besides ZSC and LHC, Ryser also played for HC Davos and the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers. In addition, he suited up three times for Switzerland's national team.
