The Bianconeri's 38-year-old associate captain and defenseman, Julien Vauclair (photo), is expected to add another season to his career, before he will step back and take over a yet to disclosed job within the club in 2019. Negotiations are underway between Vauclair and the club's leadership.
Daniel Manzato, on the other hand, will have to pack his bag and go. The 34-year-old netminder joined HC Lugano from Rapperswil in 2012 and has managed to post a .929 save percentage in 10 games for them this season so far. He will be replaced by Stefan Müller (HCB Ticino Rockets), who will backup Elvis Merzlikins as of 2018-19.
Regarding Genève-Servette HC's defender Romain Loeffel, who was signed to a four-year contract by Lugano in October last year, it is unlikely that he will join the club already this season unless the Grenats release him without asking for financial compensation.
On another note, HCL's team manager revealed that the club is interested in signing Dean Kukan, should the 24-year-old defender, who is currently part of the Columbus Blue Jackets organization, indeed decide to return to Switzerland at the end of this season.
