Joel Vermin, a seventh round draft pick in last year’s NHL entry draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning, had signed a 3-year entry-level contract with the Bolts last September and played this season on loan with SC Bern.

It was planned that he would join the Lightning organization as of 2014/15 but now he will already get a shot at proving himself overseas for the rest of this championship.

In the disappointing season for his home team SC Bern that ended last Saturday, the 22-year-old has scored 22 points in 55 games for the Bears. In his career, the four times Swiss international has completed 230 games with Bern in the National League A, registering a total of 41 goals and 64 assists since entering the league in 2009/10.
