The Alliance of European Hockey Clubs has selected five nominees for the "Coach of the Year" award. Dan Tangnes is joined by Sam Hallam of the Växjö Lakers, Bob Hartley of Avangard Omsk, Václav Varaďa of HC Oceláři Třinec, and Pekka Virta of Lukko Rauma.
Dan Tangnes has been EV Zug's head coach for the past three seasons. Under his guidance, the National League team reached the playoff final twice and won the championship once.
