Spinell played junior hockey for HC Davos and played his first professional game for EHC Visp back in the 2019-20 season. He has been part of the Swiss League team ever since. This season, he recorded four goals and four assists in 56 games for them.
However, the Walliser Bote reported in late February that Stefan Spinell had been told that his contract would not be extended beyond this season. He has, however, now found his new team in HC Pustertal and will play under former HC Thurgau coach, Stephan Mair.
