The New Jersey Devils have put Mackenzie Blackwood on Injured Reserve. The Canadian is dealing with heel issues. To replace him, they have called up Akira Schmid from the Utica Comets.
This will be the second stint with the Devils for the 21-year-old. He debuted in the NHL in December and was sent down to the AHL again just recently, on January 16.
