Brändli spent most of his junior-time with Kloten. In 2016, he joined HC Thurgau for five seasons, playing 192 games for them. After ending his playing-career at 25, he began head coaching the U20-team of HCT.
As one of the first tasks, Brändli has to start looking for a new solution for the two positions of off-ice and goalie coach. Marc Peyer and Karl Malmquist will leave the club at the end of the season.
