"Sami will play an important role in our team - on and off the ice," the SCL Tigers' team manager Pascal Müller says. "In addition to his playing qualities, Sami is also an excellent fit for our team as a person and, with his experience, also brings the necessary leadership."

In addition to the forwards Harri Pesonen and Aleksi Saarela as well as defender Vili Saarijärvi, Sami Lepistö is already the fourth Finnish player on the Tigers' roster for the upcoming season. Including Canadian Alexandre Grenier, they now have five import-players under contract.

Last season, Sami Lepistö played for Luleå HF in the Swedish Hockey League. He appeared in 39 regular season games and 17 playoff games for them. In total, he recorded 44 points (six goals). Between 2007 and 2012 he played in the NHL, then in the KHL for nine years.
