As Blick reports, in December 2021, Blum filed a civil lawsuit in the canton of Bern against Herzog.

Fabrice Herzog
EV Zug

It all started on February 14, 2021, when Fabrice Herzog (then a member of HC Davos) checked SC Bern's Eric Blum to the head. Due to the violent hit, Blum sustained a concussion, a fracture of the nose, and injuries to the shoulder. Four days later, the single judge inflicted Herzog with an eight-game suspension and a fine of CHF 11'150. Blum still has not entirely recovered from the concussion.

The entire civil proceedings could take as long as years. First, statements are collected, and then the parties will be heard before the court renders its ruling. The decision could then be appealed first to the Cantonal Supreme Court and then the Federal Supreme Court.
