The deal is done. Forward Alessio Bertaggia will indeed join Genève-Servette HC next season, as previously reported by Klaus Zaugg.

The 28-year-old has put his signature under a five-year contract with GSHC. The club writes in a press release that they have managed a big "coup" on the transfer market: "Alessio Bertaggia was our top priority for next season," Geneva's team manager Marc Gautschi says.

"Negotiations with Alessio were very simple and the project here in Geneva appealed to him right away," Gautschi continues. "I think he can play a big role in our team and I also believe he will bring a lot of emotion to the Vernets."

For the past seven years, Bertaggia has worn the jersey of HC Lugano. Over the course of his career, he has played 494 games in the National League, in which he recorded 185 points (82 goals). He has also appeared in 17 games for the Swiss national team.
