Raeto Raffainer confirms that they have been watching the Brit, but he will probably become too expensive for them.

Liam Kirk had quite a productive tournament at this year's IIHF World Championship. Seven of Great Britain's 13 goals were scored by the 21-year-old. This has apparently brought him the attention of SC Bern. "Yes, we are watching him", Raeto Raffainer is quoted by Watson's Klaus Zaugg.

"But he will certainly be more expensive after this World Championship and he would only be considered as a fifth import at most for us anyway", the Bears' Chief Sports Officer states. As for the reason, Raffainer has this to say: "The risk is just too great that we will embarrass ourselves if we bring in a Brit as an import player."

Kirk is a 2018 seventh-round draft pick from the Arizona Coyotes. The same year, he went from his youth team, Sheffield, to join the Peterborough Petes. In two seasons with the OHL-member, Kirk recorded 47 goals and 51 assists. This past season, due to the OHL pausing, the Brit was loaned to Hanhals IF in Sweden's third tier league as well as back to Sheffield.
