In an interview with the Bieler Tagblatt, Martin Steinegger also talks about the vacant spots on his roster for the 2021-22 season.

The team manager confirms that former SC Bern head coach Mario Kogler and Rikard Franzén are candidates for their assistant coaching position. Alex Reinhard, who was SCB's assistant coach this season, is also interested in the position, as he has yet to sign a new deal.

As for the roster, Martin Steinegger is currently focused on finding three new import players for the next season. As for the Swiss players, at the most, there is space for two more. He was, however, not willing to comment on potential candidates for the vacant positions.

Grégory Beaud (Blick) reported yesterday that Viktor Lööv and Emil Djuse are two defenders who are offered to Swiss teams at the moment. According to the Bieler Tagblatt, there are also sources that claim that EHC Biel is in contact with Eric Gélinas, who is under contract with Rögle BK at the moment.

As for HC Sierre's Maxim Montandon, Steinegger says that he only asked whether Montandon would be able to get out of his current contract, "not more." The team manager of HC Sierre Christophe Fellay tells Le Nouvelliste that they will talk with Montandon on Monday.

Fellay is, however, less than happy about EHC Biel's approach: "What upsets me the most about these discussions is that clubs are making direct contact with contracted players rather than telling us about it first."
