As the next NHL season will start no sooner than December, the Blue Jackets' defenseman might rejoin his former team for the first part of the season.

Tim Berni might soon be wearing again the Lions' jersey.

As reported by the Tages-Anzeiger, the interest of the ZSC Lions in having Tim Berni back in the roster at least for the first games of the upcoming season is clear.

There are, however, some obstacles: first, it is not yet known when the 2020-21 season will start in Switzerland. Secondly, an agreement needs to be reached regarding insurance issues. And finally, a deal will also depend on what the Columbus Blue Jackets' plans are for the young defender, as team manager Sven Leuenberger admits to the newspaper.

Berni would not be the first player to return to Switzerland for the time being: as reported three days ago, two other Swiss players in North America, Damien Riat and Tobias Geisser, have been loaned by the Washington Capitals to Genève-Servette HC and EV Zug respectively until the NHL will be ready to start the new season.
