Ducks' defender Luca Sbisa suffered a torn tendon in his right hand during Friday night's game against Tampa Bay. The Swiss international has to undergo surgery on Monday and will be out for six to eight weeks. With the Olympics in Sochi coming up in less than three months, this long absence will likely decrease Sbisa's chances of making it onto the roster of the Swiss national team.

Import-defenseman Jim Vandermeer will stay with the Kloten Flyers for another year until the end of season 2014/2015. In addition, the Flyers have signed Philippe Schelling for two more years.
