What has already been rumored for some time is now official: SC Bern has announced the contract extension for two more years with forward Ryan Gardner until April 2016.

The EHC Basel Sharks had to cope without their Canadian topscorer Kyle Greentree in tonight's 4-3 shoot-out win against HC Thurgau. Since the away game last Saturday in Visp, the 29yr-old left-winger is suffering from muscular problems in his upper leg. It is unclear, if he already returns into the Sharks' line-up against SC Langenthal on Saturday - it will be decided from game to game.

What bad luck for Canadian Center James Desmarais. Just after he has recovered from a torn abdominal muscle (including surgery), the 35yr-old has suffered a another injury in his comeback game for HC Ajoie against HC Red Ice yesterday (1-2 OT loss). Medical examinations, however, have shown that it is only a rip contusino. Therefore, he will be able take up practice again on Friday and is probably only going to miss Saturday's game.

As the "Neue Zürcher Zeitung" reports, the Kloten Flyers are testing 26yr-old Austrian right-winger Andreas Nödl as of today, in order to find a replacement for injured Tommi Santala.

Bad news for SC Bern: not only did they lose the derby 3-1 to HC Fribourg-Gottéron but they also lost two of their key players. Ryan Gardner was hurt in his first shift of the game and didn't return with a lower-body injury. Geoff Kinrade's game was over after 58 minutes of play (facial injury). There is no information yet on the severity of the injuries or if they will have to miss any games.
