NHL - As the Aargauer Zeitung reports, goaltender Reto Berra just might get a contract extension from the Calgary Flames at the end of this season. His contract expires this summer.

As head coach Bob Hartley tells reporters, contract extensions are of course not his job, but: "I don't see, why we shouldn't extend Reto's contract."

The 27-year-old goaltender did make an impact with the Calgary Flames this season. Since the Flames are currently rebuilding their team, there isn't much expected of its two goaltenders. Berra is competing with Finnish netminder Karri Ramo for the starting position. So far both have seen regular action.

Sven Bärtschi, who is currently with the Flames' AHL team Abbotsford Heat, is probably not going to be called up to the NHL again this season. As Hartley says: "Bärtschi is still very young, he's just a boy. He's not ready for the NHL. That's why we sent him down."

Hartley added though, that it is normal for a player of his age (21) to still be developing and that it does nothing for his development, if he just constantly has to fight to stay in the line up in the NHL.

If it isn't for injuries, we will probably not see him back with the Flames this season. Bärtschi has scored 3 points in 10 games with the Heat so far.
