In a recent special meeting of all the National League B clubs in Bern, different scenarios have been discussed of what will happen if the EHC Basel Sharks won't be rescued. A schedule with 48 games was agreed upon.

In the upcoming season 2014-2015 there will be 48 qualification games instead of 45. All the teams are playing each other six times (three times at home, three times away). This is resulting in 54 game rounds instead of 45 as before. An adapted schedule is currently being worked out.

After the qualification, the last-placed team will quit the Championship, while the first eight teams make the playoffs.
