NLB - HC Red Ice inform that they have signed Danish-Russian Kirill Starkov to a contract for the rest of the season and an option for next year. Starkov joins Red Ice as of today.

Kirill Starkov had been drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2005 and is part of the Danish national team since 2006. The 27-year old has spent some time playing in North America before returning to Europe, where he played in the KHL, the Swedish league and in Denmark. In the current season, Starkov has 45 points in 31 games with Esbjerg in the Danish league.

Starkov, who had been in talks with Red Ice for weeks, has been let go by his team Esbjerg effect immediately due to his implication in a case of sports betting. Red Ice's club management has decided, after talks with the player, to nonetheless give Starkov their confidence. His contract does include a clause for the case of a suspension by the IIHF, though.
