In mid-July, Robert Mayer was involved in an accident with a quad and was injured quite badly. The goaltender will be sidelined for several weeks. As a result, the Grenats have called back Gauthier Descloux (photo) from HC Ambrì-Piotta. However, there have been some rumors that GSHC is looking to sign an import goalie as a replacement for Mayer. Head coach Craig Woodcraft denies that: "It's just a rumor. For now, we have confidence in Gauthier Descloux and Christophe Bays." It is a great opportunity for them to gather some ice time, Woodcroft says.

In other news, the 47-year-old Canadian head coach tells the newspaper that former captain Goran Bezina is still in negotiations with Hugh Quennec. "This case is now in the hands of the president," he says.
