The fifth round pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs played the past season with the Québec Remparts in the Québec Major Junior Hockey League, registering 58 points in 61 games.
Herzog, who played in EV Zug's junior team before leaving for North America, also appeared in four games for the Toronto Marlies in the American Hockey League.
