The 22-year-old forward made his National League B debut with his youth team EHC Visp in season 2008/09. Between 2009 and 2013, he also played with HC Sierre and was able to complete 28 games with HC Davos in Switzerland's highest league (one goal, two assists), before returning to the Upper Valais.
In 61 games with the SCL Tigers this season, Kuonen has scored scored a total of 24 goals and 17 assists.
