National League

NLA - According to sports journalist Nicola Berger (NLZ), Lausanne HC's contract with Heinz Ehlers will now automatically be extended until 2016, due to the team reaching this year's playoffs.

As Berger reports on Twitter, the 48-year-old Danish head coach had a clause in his contract, that would guarantee him an automatic extension, if Lausanne HC makes the playoffs, which they did this season, albeit in dramatic fashion.

Heinz Ehlers is in his first season with Lausanne HC, however, it is not his first stint in the National League A as a head coach. He used to coach EHC Biel and helped them in the 2007/08 season to get promoted from the National League B. However, in the following season, things did not go EHC Biel's way and he was replaced by Kent Ruhnke.

He then went on to coach NLB-team SC Langenthal from 2009 until 2013. He left SC Langenthal in summer 2013 and signed a contract with Lausanne HC, which will now last until 2016.
