Women's Worlds

The Swiss national team ended the 2025 Women's Worlds with their first win of the tournament, beating Sweden 3-2.

The Swiss team were ousted of the tournament by the Czechs earlier this week (7-0) and had to play in the placement round against Sweden today. While they only recorded a single goal in all four games of the preliminary round and the quarterfinal game, they found the back of the net today.

While the Swedes opened the score thanks to a goal by Ebba Hedqvist, the Swiss immediately tied the game again thanks to Rahel Enzler. The Swedish team, however, once again took the lead in the middle of the second period (Linnea Johansson). The Swiss managed to score the equaliser six minutes later (Lara Stalder). Three seconds before the end of the second period, the Swiss secured their first lead of the game thanks to a goal by Rahel Enzler.

The Swedes dominated the third period, but thanks to a solid defensive game by the Swiss women, Switzerland managed to secure their first victory of the tournament. They will thus end the 2025 Women's Worlds in fifth place.

As of next season, there will be changes to the mode of the Women's Worlds. Next year, the groups will be treated equally, just like in the men's World Championship.
