It was an important win for the Swiss Women's national team, as it ensured they would remain in the top group of the Women's Worlds.

The Swiss had not a single win in the tournament up until today. The Swiss faced Germany in the placement round today and had to give their all to remain in Group A.

Alina Müller opened the scoring for the Swiss national team late in the first period. It was her first in the tournament. Ten minutes into the second period, Germany tied the game again. However, Lara Stalder answered said goal only two minutes afterwards with one of her own. The second period still ended in a tie, though, as Germany scored another goal with a bit over one minute left in the second period.

Neither team managed to score in the third period. The Swiss even had to change their goaltender as Andrea Brändli was injured five minutes into the period after an incident involving Celina Haider. Ultimately, the decision had to fall in overtime and Alina Müller came through for Switzerland, scoring the game-winner in the 65th minute of play.
