The New York Rangers have reportedly hired Derick Brassard as a player development assistant, as "The Athletic" writes. It would be his second stint with the team from the Big Apple, the first one being as a member of their active roster from spring 2013 to 2016.
Brassard, after undergoing ankle surgery in 2023 and retiring from professional hockey in 2024, returned to the ice when he signed with Genève-Servette HC last December. However, he suffered a lower-body injury in his first game back and did not play for the remainder of the season.
