Extension with Chur for Sandis Smons

EHC Chur has announced an extension for Sandis Smons. The 27-year-old defenseman, who joined them last summer from fellow Swiss League club HC La Chaux-de-Fonds, will remain a member of the team from the Grison capital until 2027.

"In his first season, Sandis has impressively demonstrated just how valuable he is to our squad", team manager Björn Gerhard notes. "He combines defensive stability with offensive skills and embodies exactly the kind of mindset we want to see in our organization."

Smons was born in Latvia and came to Switzerland in 2014 to join Genève-Servette HC's organization. After graduating to men's hockey and gathering experience in both National and Swiss League, he eventually joined La Chaux-de-Fonds.
