HC La Chaux-de-Fonds has announced Arnaud Jaquet's retirement from professional hockey at age 36. Growing up in HC Fribourg-Gottéron's youth department, the defenseman spent all his time in men's hockey, starting in 2010, under contract with the Bees. He holds the record for games as a member of the club with 861.
"Arnaud was my teammate before I became his team manager", Loïc Burkhalter states. "He is a competitor, always eager to give it his all, and willing to do whatever it takes to succeed. We knew he would always give 100% in every game."
The only other jersey Jaquet wore during his professional career was EHC Biel's, where he spent four games on loan during the 2021-22 season.
"After much thought, and despite the disappointment of that final, which still lingers, I have decided to bring my career to a close", the newly-retiree comments. "My heart is filled with emotion as I look back on these 16 years at HCC:
Thank you to the club officials who gave me my chance when I was just 20 and
who placed their trust in me throughout this journey."
