The 82-year-old will hand over his duties as the president of the ZSC Lions' Board of Directors to his son, Lorenz Frey-Hilti, by January 1, 2026.

Walter Frey has been with the ZSC Lions' organization since 1986 and has thus been part of them for almost four decades.
He will receive the titel of honorary president and will be celebrated by his organization on December 23 before the game between the ZSC Lions and EHC Biel.
On January 1, he will then be succeeded by his son Lorenz. The 35-year-old used to play junior hockey for the Lions and is now part of the executive board of the Emil Frey Group.
