As Antti Raanta tells Ilta-Sanomat, he is not interested in fighting for a spot in an NHL team because he no longer has the necessary fire and enthusiasm in his current life situation. Instead, he is looking at Europe now, with Germany, Czechia, and Switzerland being his top options.
Raanta already received offers from Switzerland in the spring, but at the time the goalie wanted to see what the NHL's free market would bring. Now he waits for a call: "I just have to stay sharp, train, and go on the ice so that if the call comes, I'll be ready to go right away."
Last season, Raanta suited up for the Carolina Hurricanes and their partner team in the AHL, the Chicago Wolves, averaging a .872 save percentage. Over the course of his career, Raanta suited up in 301 NHL games.
