"It is incredibly difficult for me to end my career. SCB was more than a club to me – it was my home", Simon Moser states. The 36-year-old suffered an injury in October and now has to undergo surgery. This means he will no longer play professionally. "Now my health is the priority. I will always carry my time in the SCB jersey in my heart."
Moser started his career as part of the SCL Tigers, making his National League debut with them during the 2007-08 season. He stayed with Langnau until 2013, when he moved overseas to join the Nashville Predators. A year later, he returned to Switzerland and joined SC Bern. During his tenure with the club from the capital, Moser won the Swiss Championship thrice and the Swiss Cup twice. Overall, the forward played 895 National League games, recording 222 goals and 241 assists.
"Simon always fought tirelessly for SCB and had a decisive influence on our club both on and off the ice", Bern's head of sports, Martin Plüss, notes. "We thank him from the bottom of our hearts for everything he has done for SCB." Team manager Diego Piceci has similar words. "Simu is a leader, a role model, and a driving force—both on the ice and in the locker room. He leaves behind a big gap—both athletically and personally."
Over the years, Moser participated in multiple World Championships and Olympic Games with the Swiss national team, winning the silver medal twice (2013, 2018).
