The Bears have been looking at different options regarding their stadium. According to Klaus Zaugg ("Watson"), they will renovate the current venue and build a new arena.

As Zaugg reports, in a first step, SC Bern is looking to buy the PostFinance Arena from the Swiss Prime Sites AG. They would thus turn from renters to owners.

Furthermore, the renovations are supposed to take three years and are estimated to cost about CHF 100 million. The costs are supposed to be covered by private investors. They are not planning to relocate to a different venue for the duration of the construction.

The "new" arena will only serve as a hockey arena and is supposed to have a capacity of 15,000, 4,000 to 6,000 of which would be designated to standing room spectators. The standing areas would also be moved to the short site and thus be located behind the goals.
