The 25-year-old forward has agreed to a one-year deal. The contract is valid until the end of the 2024-25 season.
“Waltteri Merelä is a versatile team player,” SC Bern's team manager Patrik Bärtschi said. “We are convinced that his skills will help our team win games.”
Merelä has played most of his career in Finland but tried his luck in North America last season. The forward recorded one goal in 19 games for the Tampa Bay Lightning and 15 goals and 19 assists in 55 regular-season games for the Syracuse Crunch this past season.
