After eight years in Switzerland, the last five of which with the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers, Roman Červenka returns home. In Czechia, he has signed a two-year contract with HC Dynamo Pardubice. "We very much regret that Roman has decided to leave us," states team manager Janick Steinmann on the termination of his contract, adding: "At the same time, we understand his motives and don't want to put any obstacles in his way."
For an outgoing player, the Lakers are able to announce an incoming transfer: the return of Pontus Åberg after one season. Åberg already played the second part of the 2022-23 season with Rapperswil but then left for Barys Astana in the KHL despite a mutual interest in an extension. Now that the timing is right, the 30-year-old Swedish forward has agreed to a one-year contract with the Lakers with an option for another year.
In his season with Astana, Åberg put up 17 goals and 20 assists in 64 games.
