Off-ice downsizing at SCB, on-ice additions in sight

Since the new CEO, Jürg Fuhrer, took over SC Bern, things have been changing. As Klaus Zaugg ("Watson") notes, a lot of jobs have been cut, but no specific number is being cited. "We put everything to the test", Fuhrer states. "We analyze without concern to names."

Regarding the Bears' involvement in the restaurant business, the CEO aims to reduce it to just the stadium and the surrounding area. Other locations are being cut. This is partially due to people being allowed to work from home more often and thus not eating out for lunch as much.

When it comes to the renovation project for the PostFinance Arena, the project will be presented once the contracts with the investors have been signed.

In on-ice news, as Zaugg notes, Bern's favorite for the seventh import licence is Rodrigo Äbois, a Latvian who last played for the Philadelphia Flyers and missed parts of the season due to injury. According to the "Berner Zeitung", there is also interest in Philipp Kurashev and Thomas Bordeleau, who both did not get a qualifying offer from their NHL teams and thus are looking for new homes. However, those two are drawing interest from other National League teams as well.
