The NHL team wants to terminate the 30-year-old forward's contract. If no other NHL team claims him, he is free to return to Europe.
Juho Lammikko signed with the New Jersey Devils last June. At the time, he had a valid contract in place with the ZSC Lions but was allowed to leave the organization to once again pursue his NHL dream.
It remains to be seen whether the Finn might thus return to Zürich if no other team claims the forward or whether he will set up his tent elsewhere. In 24 games for the New Jersey Devils, he has recorded two assists.
