Sami Niku signed with EHC Kloten last July. His one-year deal is running out in spring and, according to "Blick"'s Finnish sources, the defenseman has decided to join fellow National League squad Lausanne HC instead for the coming season.
In his first stint outside of either his home country Finland or Canada, the 28-year-old has made 41 games so far, recording four goals and 20 assists. He ranks fourth in points (and third without Miro Aaltonen) among Kloten's squad, and first in assists.
On Lausanne's roster, Niku would be Finnish import number four.
