Lauri Marjamäki, part of EHC Kloten for the last two years, has signed a contract with EV Zug, valid until 2028. He is taking over from Benoît Groulx, who held the position since January, when he replaced Michael Liniger.
"Lauri Marjamäki has worked with young players and played successful hockey across numerous coaching stints", Zug's CEO Patrick Lengwiler notes. "Over the next few years, we will guide the EVZ through the first team’s rebuilding process - which is already underway - and bring the club back into contention with the top teams in the National League."
On the other end of the trade, Michael Liniger, who was still under contract with Zug until 2027, is stepping in for Marjamäki. He, too, has signed on until 2028.
"In Michael Liniger, we are gaining a young Swiss head coach who has strong ties to EHC Kloten and spent a significant portion of his playing career with the club", Kloten's team manager Ricardo Schädler states. "He understands our sporting philosophy, and we are confident that he can consistently uphold and further develop it. He is therefore an ideal fit for EHC Kloten’s strategic direction."
