One day after Justin Schultz's departure from HC Lugano was made official, team manager Hnat Domenichelli has already found a replacement: “Valtteri is an interesting profile that I had already observed in recent years with the Finnish national team where he had played so well that he earned a contract with the San Jose Sharks. He has excellent skating for his stature and we are confident that he can make an immediate contribution to our defense.”
Just a few days ago, the Sharks sent Pulli to the unconditional waivers to terminate his contract, as the Finn had expressed the wish to continue his career in Europe. This season he only appeared in two games with their AHL affiliate.
Pulli, 198cm and 95kg, spent the last season and a half with the Sharks' AHL affiliate, the San Jose Barracuda. Before that, he was a member of TPS Turku's organization, with which he debuted in the Liiga in 2020-21. In the AHL, he suited up 61 times with the Barracuda, collecting eleven points (three goals and eight assists).
