The 33-year-old has one year left on his contract with SC Bern. He is not thinking about leaving the capital city.

After 24 games played, the Bears are currently in 13th and thus second-to-last place in the National League standings. As the Bears will likely have to rebuild the team at some point, the "Berner Zeitung" asked whether Joël Vermin might be one of the pieces to be moved out of the capital city, as his salary supposedly accounts for a substantial part of SCB's salary roll.

"I would love to end my career in Bern. That's why I hope it doesn't come to that," Joël Vermin tells the newspaper. He also does not plan to retire from hockey once his current contract with the Bears has expired.

Vermin is a product of SCB's organization and returned to the Bears in 2022. The forward served as a defenseman for the team last season, but has recently returned to his original position. In 20 games, he has recorded three goals and three assists.
