Signing a Swedish defenseman after he had a personally successful season in Finland? It would not be the first time for EHC Kloten - they did do it with Max Lindroth a year ago. This time around, it may be Simon Johansson, currently a member of Ilves Tampere. As "Expressen" writes, a deal for next season is already in place.
Johansson is Ilves' best goal scorer with 19 and sits second in overall points with 40 (across 46 games), which is also the most among any defenseman in the Liiga.
Coming up through Djurgårdens' youth department, the Swede made his SHL debut during the 2017-18 season. In 2021, he joined Ilves, moved overseas a year later to play for the Iowa Wild (Minnesota's AHL affiliate), and returned to Tampere in 2024.
