The 28-year-old has played over 300 games in the NHL, including the playoffs. Most recently he did so for the Carolina Hurricanes, the Winnipeg Jets, the New York Rangers, and the Los Angeles Kings.
Last Friday, after having been placed on unconditional waivers to terminate his contract with the Hurricanes, he cleared waivers, thus making him a free agent.

The Canadien played 315 games over seven seasons. In those appearances, he recorded 37 goals and 38 assists.
