For the coming season, Brian Zanetti will not extend his expiring contract with the SCL Tigers and will instead return to HC Lugano. The 21-year-old defender has put pen to paper on a three-year deal valid until the end of the 2027-28 season. "Brian has excellent skating with strong defensive qualities and will be an important player for the future of our team," said team manager Hnat Domenichelli regarding the latest acquisition.
Zanetti rose through Lugano’s youth system but departed in 2021 after being selected 110th overall by the Philadelphia Flyers, spending the following two seasons in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the Peterborough Petes, where he was part of the team that won the OHL championship. Afterward, he returned to Switzerland to play for the SCL Tigers. In ten games this season, Zanetti scored one goal and registered one assist, averaging 12:22 minutes of ice time per game.
