"As with others, we are now in talks with him. But it's no secret that we hold him in very high regard," Patrik Bärtschi, team manager of SC Bern, tells the "Berner Zeitung". Czarnik leads the National League in assists and points, having amassed seven goals and 18 assists.

When talking about Austin Czarnik, Bärtschi also gave the newspaper an insight into his philosophy regarding contract extensions of import players: "It's important to me not to make such decisions based solely on scoring points. [...] In Swiss ice hockey, the way we view import players is still changing, moving away from the days when it was assumed that imports had to score countless goals. And that the importance of each individual import player must be huge. I think with that we're also devaluing the development of the Swiss."
