Aleksi Heponiemi likely gone from Biel, others uncertain

With EHC Biel's season at an end, CEO Daniel Villard has taken stock of the situation. Part of this was in regards to several players' future with the club, as "Ajour" writes. Specifically the import-section might loom a bit different next season.

Aleksi Heponiemi is unlikely to remain part of Biel, despite still being under contract until 2027. Jere Sallinen, signed until 2026, might also not be back, but his situation remains to be decided, the same goes for possible extensions for Alexander Yakovenko and Anthony Greco. What might be in the stars for longtime injured Viktor Lööv is uncertain anyway. No new imports have been announced just yet.

On the Swiss front, Biel would like to keep Rodwin Dionicio, but that is not really in their hands. Luca Cunti still has to make a decision about his future, which might involve retirement. The contracts of Jérôme Bachofner and Ramon Tanner are running out, and it is not clear whether they will be back next season.

One possible addition might be Thomas Bordeleau. The US-Canadian dual citizen and son of former National League player Sébastien Bordeleau (Biel and SC Bern) has a Swiss licence. "He is an interesting player, but it is up to him to decide whether he wants to continue his career in North America or come to Switzerland", Villard states. "It is not in our hands." Bordeleau is currently part of the San Jose Sharks, but mostly plays in the AHL. His contract is coming to an end this summer.
