The 41-year-old forward has now surpassed Beat Gerber's record of 1269 National League games played - fittingly in a game against SC Bern.

Andres Ambühl now holds the records for Most National League Games Played, Most National League Games Played in the Regular Season, and several on the international level (most games played at World Championships, participation record).

Ambühl or "Büehli" (as he is called by peers and fans alike) is also one of the most well-liked players in the League and was elected "Most Popular Player" eight times. He has played 24 seasons in the National League and appeared in 19 World Championships and five Olympic Games.
