It was already quite clear that France would host the tournament when the last competitor Kazakhstan withdrew their application a while ago.
At the IHF Annual Congress during this year's World Championship, it was confirmed that France would host the 2028 edition. The European country was the last remaining bidder for the event, after Norway and recently Kazakhstan had witdrawn.
Games will take place at the Accor Arena in Paris - which was already one of the locations in 2017, besides Cologne - and the LDLC Arena in Lyon.
