Rumors suggest not only that Patrick Fischer will step down as coach of the Swiss national team after the World Championships, but also that his successor has already been identified: Jan Cadieux will replace the 50-year-old starting in the 2026-27 season. The 45-year-old is currently coaching the U20 squad of the Swiss national team.
It has been known for a while that Patrick Fischer had been asked to think about his future and his role as head coach of the national team, given that his current contract is set to expire at the end of the 2025-26 season. Three names have been mostly circulating as possible successors of Fischer: Jan Cadieux, Thierry Paterlini, and Luca Cereda. It seems, however, that Paterlini and Cereda have not been contacted yet, Zaugg writes.
