EV Zug is still waiting for Lino Martschini's comeback. He has been sidelined due to injury since October 2025. It remains unclear when the forward may return. Originally, he had set his sights on this coming Sunday’s game against Genève-Servette HC. "My comeback plans were probably too optimistic," Martschini told the Zuger Zeitung.
Although his most recent medical checkup was very positive, patience is still required. "You cannot rush the process. The body sets the pace. It is a matter of trust," says Martschini. “As of today, I feel very good on the ice. That gives me courage." The veteran has been practicing on the ice for quite some time now, wearing a no-contact jersey.
As for other members of Zug's infirmary, defensemen David Sklenička and Elia Riva, out due to illness, are close to a return. The same goes for forward Dominik Kubalík, who has been sidelined since September 10 due to a lower-body injury.
Meanwhile, the club has denied reports of interest in HC Ambrì-Piotta's Inti Pestoni. In recent days, rumors surfaced that the Bulls had been eyeing the forward as a possible replacement for Martschini. "This player was never on our radar," the club told the Zuger Zeitung. According to the newspaper, CEO Paolo Duca is even said to have personally intervened at RSI, where the rumors first surfaced.
