EHC Olten without two of its defenders for the time being

The EHC Olten will have to do without Janis Elsener until around the end of September. According to the Oltner Tagblatt, he sustained a rib injury during last week’s preseason game against the GDT Bellinzona Snakes.

Another defenseman, Gianluca Burger, will also be sidelined for the time being. A plate was removed from his surgically repaired foot, and according to the newspaper, he should be available again around the start of the season.

In addition to the long-term injured Simon Sterchi and Jules Sturny, Finn Bichsel and Manuel von Rohr—who are currently with the U20 national team—as well as prospect Philemon Baumann are also unavailable at the moment. The latter has been signed to a development contract and, according to the club, is completing basic military training through the end of October.

But there is also some good news: Guillaume Asselin made his comeback in yesterday’s preseason game against EHC Biel. The Canadian had recently been struggling with an injury and had to sit out for just under two weeks.
