As anticipated by Expressen, the 26-year-old forward has agreed to a one-year contract with the SHL team.

"Playing in Sweden has always been a goal and HV71 is a classic club with a history of many Finnish players," Joona Luoto said about his decision to sign with HV71. The forward will play his first season in Sweden this autumn.
SC Bern, his former team, already announced in April that the Finn would not stay with the team. In 45 regular-season games, Luoto recorded 18 goals and nine assists.
